“I like to play in this position” Chelsea workhorse discusses his role under Lampard

There is always one subject that causes debate amongst Chelsea fans, pundits, and managers – the position of N’Golo Kante.

Some fans believe that Kante should be playing as a holding midfielder, one of those being former Blues manager Glenn Hoddle.

However, the debate is that Kante offers much more to the side when he is not ‘holding’.

The French World Cup winner has an incredible engine and does not stop running. He seems at his best when he is free to get up and back, in the role of a box-to-box midfielder.

Last season he played very advanced under Maurizio Sarri and often found himself as the furthest forward. This is something that we have not seen too often.

But Kante is such a class player, I believe that if you put him at right back, he would still be one of the best on the pitch.

Well, the player himself likes to play more advanced.

As reported by The Metro, Kante was asked about his role under Frank Lampard, he said:

“I like to play in this position, this is where I played last year.

“The coach asked me to play in this position, I like to do it.

“I know what to do with my teammates and we played a good game (Liverpool Super Cup Final).”
