(Images): Frank Lampard gets hero’s welcome on return to Stamford Bridge

While Frank Lampard was not able to mark his first home game in charge of Chelsea with a victory, he will no doubt have been delighted with the support he was shown from the home crowd.

Chelsea fans welcomed Jose Mourinho back with welcome arms upon his return to Stamford Bridge in 2013, but it was nothing compared to what was done for Lampard’s homecoming today.

Lampard, who is Chelsea’s record goal scorer and will be for many years to come, was greeted by stadium wide chanting, placards and a couple of pretty sizeable banners at both the Matthew Harding and Shed ends.

The support for Frank can’t stop here, either, as we’re sure it won’t. He has a mammoth of a task ahead of him this season, but we’re right behind him and believe that he’ll make it work.

He can be certain that every time he steps out into the dugout at the Bridge this season he will be given the full backing of the Chelsea faithful, which will no doubt be of great help.
