Hudson-Odoi fondly recalls his Chelsea ball-boy encounter with superstar

There has been an image circulating of 13-year old Callum Hudson-Odoi turning out as a Chelsea ball-boy.

Not only did he have the enjoyment of that honourable task, he is also seen giving one of his Chelsea hero’s Samuel Eto’o a massive smile whilst he clutches both his hands.

The former Chelsea striker had just scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Manchester United in 2014.

At this point in time, Hudson-Odoi was lighting up the Chelsea academy, and simply dreaming about one day meeting some of his idols.

As his dreams continued, he would have thought about one day BEING one of his idols.

It was a very special moment captured on camera, one that will be looked back on, one that holds a real fairy tale story now due to the fact that their will be Chelsea ball-boys looking at him in the same way as he looked at Eto’o that day.

The 18-year old starlet has been fondly recalling his thoughts of that day and explaining exactly what happened to the Chelsea website.

He said:

“I remember him scoring a hat-trick and the third goal was near where I was sitting in the corner. He came over to celebrate. Obviously I was happy for the team because they’d won and for him as well.

“When he started celebrating, I was delighted and he just saw me, came over and held my hand.

“For a young boy seeing a professional footballer coming to do that for you, it was crazy. I was smiling so much.

“You dream of being a professional as a kid, especially at the club I’ve now been at for so long. You think, “Can I become like him or at least get to the top where he is?” and I’m now fulfilling that dream.

“It’s the boyhood club I’ve always loved and played for, so I’ve always felt that that dream is there. Now I just want to carry on and keep going.”
