Romelu Lukaku has just been on a really long and in-depth interview on the LightHarted podcast, talking about growing up in Belgium, and including plenty of insight on his time at Chelsea – and the move that saw him miss out on a return.
“I was going to Chelsea,” the Belgian said of the fateful summer of 2017. He explains that while he was expecting to be going back to Stamford Bridge, he ended up speaking to Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, who persuaded him to join up with our former coach at Old Trafford instead.
In the end, it worked out pretty badly for us, for United, and for Lukaku. Maybe he shouldn’t have listened?
