‘I feel for this club deeply’ – Frank Lampard explains relationship with beloved Chelsea

Frank Lampard has spoken of his relationship with Chelsea during an exclusive interview with UEFA, which is a handy reminder of exactly why the club legend is in charge here.

Lampard, as you may expect, has come under criticism after his Chelsea side were defeated 4-0 by Manchester United on his first competitive game in charge of the Blues.

Our performance was encouraging, even if the result was devastating, but we wouldn’t expect rival fans to acknowledge that considering the agendas they have against us.

For all those who need a reminder of why Marina Granovskaia and co took the plunge and appointed Lampard this summer, the man himself has provided it.

Speaking to UEFA, Lampard explained just how much this club means to him:

“It is a defining thing in my life, because I took Chelsea home with me the minute I joined the club. When I look back, I’m delighted at what I managed to achieve, or what we did as a group, except for that we should have won more Premier League titles. I feel for this club deeply. Hence why I want to do so well here. Of course I want to do well for myself, I want to improve myself but at the same time I want this club to be where it belongs.”

And that’s exactly it. There will not be a single day when Lampard’s in charge of this club where he doesn’t give his all and the fans don’t give him their full support.

After the forgettable Maurizio Sarri reign, that’s exactly what we needed.
