“There’s a lot more to come” – Frank Lampard inspired by first start of Chelsea new boy

Frank Lampard has claimed that there’s more to come from Christian Pulisic following the American’s impressive first start as a Chelsea player in yesterday’s UEFA Super Cup.

Pulisic came on as a substitute during our opening Premier League fixture, but made his first competitive start in a Chelsea shirt against Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The 20-year-old provided the assist for Olivier Giroud’s opening goal, with a brilliantly weighted through pass putting it on the money for the Frenchman, who finished cooly.

Pulisic was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet himself, having beaten two Liverpool defenders and Adrian, but having his goal ruled out for offside.

Needless to say, we are impressed, but Lampard believes that there is even more to come from the former Borussia Dortmund man. He’s quoted by the Metro saying:

“Yeah I was pleased. And I think there’s a lot more to come, because the expectancy is right, he’s a big signing for us. But we must also remember his age. He’s 20. He’s coming into the Premier League, into this game, Liverpool are one of the most intense teams to play in world football. So I think it took him a bit of time early in the game to get his feeling, but once he did you could see his confidence with carrying the ball and the things he can create.”

Pulisic is only going to get better and better as he adapts to the league and Lampard’s way of thinking. We can’t wait to see what this season has in store for the winger.
