“It’s a football playing side, it’s flexible” Rival manager impressed with Lampard’s Chelsea

Chelsea’s opposing manager in the Super Cup Final Jurgen Klopp, has been talking up Frank Lampard ahead of this evening’s big clash.

Lampard is only one competitive match into his Chelsea managerial career, and he finds himself competing for a European trophy already.

The Super Cup see’s the Champions of Europe, face up against the Champions of the Europa League, creating Liverpool vs Chelsea as an all English final.

Last season it was Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea who led his side to European triumph, beating another English side Arsenal in the final.

But Sarri was often criticised by some Chelsea supporters for playing one style of football, and the only way he knew.

There were times when some flexibility might have helped get better results, with the bad results ultimately seeing him leave the club after one season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that this season will be different, with Lampard adopting a more flexible approach with his formations.

Speaking to the Liverpool wesbite, Klopp said:

“They have a clear way of playing, it’s a football-playing side, it’s flexible, they have different formations and stuff like this and I like what I saw to be honest.

“They lost 4-0 (to Manchester United) – that’s then a really hard lesson.

“United was pretty clinical and that’s how football can be, but of course we don’t have lesser respect because they lost 4-0 against Man United. No, it’s the other way around – especially in the first 60 minutes they were just really good.

“[They are] A good football team and we use three games and try to make the right conclusion of that and do the right things in the game.”
