CONFIRMED: Kenneth Omeruo completes La Liga move

Kenneth Omeruo has completed a move to Leganes, Chelsea announced on their official website today.

The Nigeria defender has been at Stamford Bridge since 2012, incredibly, without ever playing for the senior team in a competitive game.

He’s been on all manner of loans, some better than others, but finally looked to have found his feet last season at Leganes on the outskirts of Madrid.

The fee was not disclosed by the Blues, but we imagine it’s in the range of around €5m, a fair figure for one of the more impressive defenders outside the top teams in La Liga last year.

The defender also posted this image on his Instagram to celebrate his years at the club:

He did well to find a picture of himself in Chelsea kit! The fact that it’s one from about 2015 tells you all you need to know about how long he’s been kicking around at Cobham.

Good luck in Spain, Kenneth!
