Chelsea name youngest XI since 2012… and then it gets younger

Chelsea have been really breaking the mold this season, introducing a new manager and tons of new players into the squad.

With a transfer ban in place preventing us from bringing in any new signings, we have relied on our young crop of returning loanees to come in and reinforce the team.

That’s meant a very young team overall, never more so than today. As you can see in the stat embedded above, Chelsea’s team today was the youngest named by a manager since 2012.

Not only that, but after the stat was published, Pedro (the oldest player in the team) pulled out due to an injury in the warmup, and was replaced by the far younger Ross Barkley.

We don’t know what that takes the average down to… we’ll get back to you. But either way, the point stands. The future is very bright for us, if we can survive the next few months…
