Ashley Cole believes Chelsea youngster can be ‘world-class’ in the future

Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has revealed his belief that academy product Mason Mount can become a world-class midfielder in the future, report the Daily Mail.

Mount was superb after being introduced as a substitute against Liverpool on Wednesday night, and even found the back of Adrian’s net, although his strike was soon ruled out for offside.

The midfield prospect scored again today against Leicester City, and there was no taking this one way from him. His first Chelsea goal and on his first ever appearance at Stamford Bridge.

It’s the dream start to life as part of the first-team setup for young Mason, and Ashley Cole appears to have been really impressed with what he’s seen from him thus far.

Cole is quoted by the Daily Mail saying:

“He can play anywhere in the midfield, right, left, holding because his range of passing is so good. He needs to know when to slow the game down, everything doesn’t have to be 100mph. He can potentially be world class but he obviously has a lot to learn.”

If Mount stays focused and continues riding the upward gradient he is currently, Ashley’s right, we’ll have one of the best midfielders in the world on our hands in the future.
