Chelsea likely XI v Liverpool: Frank Lampard to make two changes from weekend

Chelsea take on Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup tomorrow evening, and we’ve attempted to predict the team that Frank Lampard will field for the big game.

There’s certainly changes on the way after how heavily we were defeated by Manchester United, with Lampard likely to make minor alterations in hope of a positive outcome.

Kepa Arrizabalaga will certainly start in goal, with this cup being far too meaningful to warrant Willy Caballero being rotated into the starting side.

Cesar Azpilicueta is the skipper and will be involved even if he’s underperforming, with necessity seeing both Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma keep their place. Emerson Palmieri is also likely to be picked ahead of Marcos Alonso, with the threat of Mohamed Salah too much for Marcos Alonso.

With N’Golo Kante potentially injured, it seems likely that the same midfield duo of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho will start again. They’ll have to do much better than they did at Old Trafford else we’d be in for yet another heavy defeat.

Pedro and Ross Barkley will likely keep their places, with Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud coming in for Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham, who will be ready to come off of the bench if necessary.

Do you agree with our team, Blues? Could this XI get the job done in Istanbul?
