Chelsea have safely touched down in Istanbul ahead of our UEFA Super Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night, the club confirmed on their official website.
With the Blues defeating Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku, and Liverpool overcoming Spurs in Madrid, the two Premier League heavyweights set themselves up with an early season encounter in Turkey.
Chelsea have been defeated in both of their appearances in this competition over the past decade, with Frank Lampard himself being involved on both of those losses to Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Everyone will be desperate to to bring the trophy home for the fans to enjoy, especially having suffered such a heavy defeat away at Manchester United on the opening day of the new season.
Whether the Chelsea players will be able to bag a result tomorrow night remains to be seen, but they’re safely in Istanbul, as the club confirmed on their official website. Now the tension builds!
