The amount of first-team presence at Chelsea’s first academy home game of the new season will put a smile on the face of every single one of the Blues faithful.
For years we have campaigned for our managers to pay more attention to the younger players we have coming up the ranks and wished that they should get opportunities in the first team.
We have exactly what we’re looking for in Frank Lampard, who fielded all of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori in a major European competition on Wednesday night.
Lampard is not only focusing his attention on the youngsters he has already integrated into the first-team, either. He appears to be keeping a close eye on those who could be involved later down the line.
Have a look at the amount of first-team presence, including Lampard himself, who watched Chelsea U18s face West Ham earlier today. This brings a tear to our eye…
