Chelsea fans – here’s a useful reminder of why Michy Batshuayi doesn’t start

In case Chelsea fans had forgotten why Michy Batshuayi has not received the backing of Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri or Frank Lampard – here’s a handy reminder for you.

Batshuayi scored twice for Chelsea U23s last night as they took on Liverpool U23s at Stamford Bridge, which predictably reignited the debate as to whether he should be leading our line.

The Belgian has scored goals wherever he’s gone – other than Valencia – but is yet to be able to convince any Chelsea manager that he is worthy of being our outright starting centre-forward.

Nizaar Kinsella, who was at the Bridge last night, has provided a useful reminder as to why that may be. Yes, Batshuayi does score goals, but he’s far from the most clinical of strikers…

That’s not to say that Batshuayi doesn’t deserve as fair a chance to impress as the other two strikers in our squad, but let’s not allow absence to skew our view of him.
