Chelsea centre-back hits commendable milestone during Norwich City victory

Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma hit a considerable milestone by being handed a start against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Zouma had previously established himself as an important first-team member under Jose Mourinho, but the anterior cruciate ligament rupture derailed his progress at Stamford Bridge.

Having recovered from his injury, the Frenchman had to go out on loan to both Stoke City and Everton in order to convince those at Chelsea that he was worthy of another opportunity.

Frank Lampard has placed a great deal of faith in Zouma, structuring his defence around both him and Andreas Christensen. It gave Zouma the chance to hit the milestone he reached yesterday.

50 Premier League appearances for a club of Chelsea’s stature is impressive in itself, but when you consider what Zouma has had to fight through in order to get here, it’s all the more commendable.

Something tells us that there will be plenty more appearances to come…
