Frank Lampard’s Sunday opponent backs him for success as Chelsea manager

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has backed Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to be a success as manager of his beloved Blues, report Standard Sport.

Rodgers kicked off his career in top level coaching at Chelsea. He learnt the trade and proved his worth at Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and now Leicester City.

His character may be polarising, but his quality as a manager is undeniable. He appears to have a good talent radar, too, as he’s a big fan of our Lampard.

Rodgers is quoted by Standard Sport revealing his belief that tomorrow’s opponent Frank Lampard is going to be a success in charge of Chelsea:

Frank and (assistant) Jody (Morris) are a perfect fit for it. They both understand the fabric of the club, said Rodgers. Frank understands the policy at the club, with the transfer ban, and he is giving young players a chance, which perhaps in the past those young players wouldn’t get that opportunity. But, under Frank and Jody, young players are getting a chance to flourish now and he is doing a good job. In the games I have seen, Chelsea have played with a good tempo and intensity.

Frank understands the importance of giving those young players a chance, but he also knows he has to win matches and get results, and I believe he will do well there.

We, like Rodgers, have full faith that Lampard is going to prove to be an overwhelming success as a manager here, just as he was as a player.

Lampard has the chance to get his first win as Chelsea manager tomorrow, which unfortunately after these kind comments, would be at Rodgers’ expense!
