Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reveals why £130M man had to leave Chelsea

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has taken a cheeky dig at Chelsea while discussing big-money summer signing Eden Hazard, report the Daily Star.

Hazard signed along the dotted line with Los Blancos last month in what the Daily Star report to be a £130M deal, one of the most expensive transfers in football history.

That’s testament to just how good a player Real Madrid have got themselves in Hazard, who was comfortably Chelsea’s best player, leading us to two Premier League title wins.

Hazard is already one of the best in the world, but Zidane believes that he can get even better. All he needed to make that step was to… leave Chelsea.

Zidane is quoted by the Daily Star saying:

“What Eden needed was a club like Madrid to improve. This club has something special and the players know it. I arrived at 29 years old and I still had a lot left.”

“I spent five years in this club and I had a better time, I improved with 29 years. We know the player he is, we have how important he is going to be.”

While we see where he’s coming from, Real Madrid are a giant club, many have failed to adjust to the expectations of life at the Santiago Bernabeu. There’s no guarantee Haazrd will.
