Will the vacant number 10 shirt be left for Callum Hudson-Odoi? The number that Christian Pulisic will be donning for Chelsea today suggests it may well be.
As you well know, Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid has left Chelsea without a number 10. All of Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic and Willian have been suggested as potential recipients.
Pulisic wears the number 10 while on international duty with the USA, which is why it would make sense if he was the man to take it up. However, he’s not wearing it against Kawasaki today.
Football London report that Pulisic, who started the game on the bench, has the number 24 on the back of his shirt. Chelsea have subsequently clarified that squad numbers are not yet finalised.
Please note, squad numbers are not confirmed. The numbers the players wear tonight, are not necessarily what they will wear during the season. 👍 https://t.co/d4OnqRijx9

If Pulisic was planning to take the 10, though, would it not be smart marketing for him to don it while on our pre-season tour of Japan? Why would he wear 24 instead?
Could it be because the number 10 shirt has already been promised to somebody else, perhaps Callum Hudson-Odoi, as part of a long-awaited contract extension?
We’re merely speculating, but it’s a fun thought…
