Three clubs battle for signature of Chelsea’s England U21 star

Chelsea are in that stage of the summer where they are sloughing off players left, right and centre on loans, and The Daily Telegraph  has a report on the future of one of them.

Jake Clarke-Salter followed up a disastrous spell with relegated Sunderland two seasons ago with a much more steady and consistent one at Vitesse Arnhem last year, and that – along with his success with the England U21s in recent times – looks like it will lead to another chance in the second tier here.

According to the Telegraph, Birmingham have joined Leeds and Swansea in the race to bring him to the club for a year.

From our perspective, Leeds would be the most interesting, with any excuse to follow Marcelo Bielsa’s antics being a good one. However we saw limited success with loanees like Lewis Baker there last year, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Birmingham make a stronger case than the Whites for JCS.
