Chelsea are arguably one of the great teams in Europe and their recent titles won domestically and on the continent proves that, but they have something else that makes them a bit more special according to David Luiz.
The Blues boasts one of the best academies in Europe, with their age-limit teams winning several trophies and their young players also earning contracts in several other clubs. The young players are also pushing hard for places in the first team and rightly so. Their talent has brought them this far.
The likes of Ruben Loftus Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi have shown the others the way into the senior team and this has become a very important summer for them. Frank Lampard is faced with making tough decisions about these youngsters who see the transfer ban on Chelsea in this transfer window as a big opportunity to win favor in the eyes of Lampard and his technical staff.
Central defender Luiz, who is spending time with his younger colleagues on the pre-season tour in Ireland says he is very impressed with the quality on display and believes the youngsters have what it takes to make the fans happy.
“I think we are a lucky team because we have so much talent, the young players are amazing. Every single one, they have the quality already to play for this club. I have to do my role as a senior player just trying to help them and also to do my job.
Of course it is a big step up and it’s up to everyone to do their job.”
