“It will be very difficult” – Agent deals blow to Chelsea’s hopes of signing Barcelona star

Philippe Coutinho’s agent has provided an update on his future, and it doesn’t look as though the Brazilian would be interested in a move to Chelsea.

Coutinho’s future as a Barcelona player has been looking pretty uncertain, with the former Liverpool man being unable to produce his best performance level at the Camp Nou and the Spanish side making waves in the summer transfer window.

Mundo Deportivo previously claimed that Chelsea were interested in signing Coutinho from Barca, with the club losing their best player in the shape of Eden Hazard. Obviously, the transfer ban has prohibited us even trying to acquire him.

Regardless, Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, who has close ties with Chelsea, has dampened suggestions that he could make a move to Stamford Bridge, or any other Premier League side for that matter. Sky Sports quote him saying:

“I think Liverpool lies very, very deeply in his heart. He was a big fan of them throughout the campaign [last season].”

“He was wishing for them to win the title and he has a very strong affinity there so I think it will be very difficult for him to go to a direct competitor of Liverpool from a personal standpoint.”

If Coutinho’s heart remains in Liverpool, we wouldn’t want him at Chelsea anyway. Perhaps if Jurgen Klopp has funds made available to him at some point this summer then re-signing Coutinho could emerge as a possibility.
