Kenneth Omeruo has been a surprise hit for Nigeria at this Africa Cup of Nations.
The centre back wasn’t even an assured starter going into this tournament, having featured mainly as a sub at last summer’s World Cup and in subsequent games. But so far in Egypt he has been exceptional, with WhoScored even putting him among their top 5 players at the tournament.

That’s not good news for Leganes, where Omeruo was on loan this season past. He was excellent for Los Pepineros in La Liga, and they were understandably keen to sign him permanently.
These excellent performances will be raising his price with every passing game. The £3m or so they’ve been offering so far is looking more laughable with every passing moment. In fact, if he carries on like this, there may be far bigger teams interested in buying him from us this summer.
