“It’s the Lampard effect” – Some Chelsea fans rejoice over youngster’s new deal

Callum Hudson-Odoi has agreed to sign a new 5-year contract with Chelsea, worth £100k-a-week, according to The Times.

The 18-year old has reportedly been in talks over a new deal for sometime, but had his head turned by Bayern Munich interest.

Frank Lampard then arrived at Chelsea, and offered words of encouragement for the youngster to sign his new deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this month, Lampard said “With Callum, of course, I want him to sign [a new deal] and stay here.

“I said that before I came here – just talking generally – and I said it when I first got here.

“We – as a club, for sure – want him to stay.”

Many Chelsea supporters believe that it is no coincidence that Hudson-Odoi has now reportedly agreed to sign the new contract and stay at Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi has not officially signed the contract yet. However, the report from The Times claims that he is expected to sign it before the end of the season and has now agreed to the terms.

Currently out injured, Hudson-Odoi will be eager to return to the first team squad and begin his season, and hopefully his new 5-year reign (at least) as a Chelsea player.
