What Jose Mourinho said when asked about Frank Lampard’s Chelsea return

Jose Mourinho has turned down the chance to comment on Frank Lampard being appointed Chelsea manager. Is he a little bit salty?

Mourinho has been out of management ever since he was dismissed by Manchester United in the winter of last season. He subsequently went on to fill his time with punditry work abroad.

The three-time Premier League title winner would likely be keen to get back into the management game sooner rather than later, and you’d think it wouldn’t be hard for him to find an employer.

Problematic he may be, but Mourinho has a track record of delivering success and silverware. He knows his worth, which is why we wonder if he had hoped to get the Chelsea job in the summer.

When it became clear that Maurizio Sarri was to depart, Chelsea were short on options. It’s for that reason that Lampard was fast-tracked into the role, not that we’re not absolutely delighted about it.

Mourinho may not be, though. As the Metro report, Mourinho was questioned by Sky Sports about Lampard taking the reins at his former side. Instead of sharing his delight, he said:

“I don’t speak about football. My football? I have no football now.”

Oh Jose, are you jealous?
