Highly rated youngster set to stay at Chelsea

Reece James is set to remain at Chelsea this coming season, according to a report via Goal.

James is currently in recovery after having surgery on an ankle injury sustained this summer whilst playing for England Under 20s.

But once returned, he will be part of new head coach Frank Lampard’s first team plans, says the same report.

The 19-year old had an impressive spell on loan at Wigan Athletic last season and became one of their most important players.

Coming through the Chelsea academy, James has always gained praise, and is a top prospect at the club.

The report also states that his team mates Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham will also stay and be involved in the first team this season.

Chelsea supporters will be pleased with this news, with many of them already rating the full back very highly.

James will have competition from Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta at the right back spot.

But its worth remembering he has also played in centre midfield, and Azpilicueta has also enjoyed a stint at left full back some years ago. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.
