Frank Lampard reveals ‘no confirmation’ of Chelsea shirt numbers yet

Early this week, a video emerged with Chelsea winger Willian seemingly revealing that the club have offered him the number 10 shirt for next season.

The former suitor of said shirt Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid this summer, leaving the shirt number up for grabs, and speculation regarding who will be taking the number erupted.

New signing Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi would both be considered for the shirt number, but it was Willian who revealed that he will be taking it.

However, reported via Football London, Lampard has other news on the shirt situation:

“There’s no confirmation of that decision, but it will be taken in due course. I didn’t see the interview but I did hear about it.”

Lampard also confirmed that the Brazil international will be returning to training next month, after featuring for his country in the Copa America.

The same report via Football London, confirms that the number 10 shirt has also been discussed with Hudson-Odoi, surrounding his current contract negotiations at the club. Cutting Willian out after so many loyal years of service would seem harsh however.
