“Really impressed” – Frank Lampard loving what he’s seen from Chelsea new boy so far

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has praised new boy Christian Pulisic after he made his first appearance for the Blues on Friday, report the Metro.

It was announced way back in the January transfer window that Chelsea had agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Pulisic. The American joining up with the squad was seriously long-awaited.

We were finally given the opportunity to see him feature in a Chelsea shirt yesterday during our 1-0 defeat to Kawasaki Frontale, albeit briefly. Head coach Lampard is impressed with what he’s seen so far.

Lampard is quoted by the Metro outlining the positives from Pulisic’s opening stages as a Chelsea player, adding that he believes the 20-year-old should have been awarded a penalty during his short cameo:

“Good, good. He has been here a couple of days really in terms of training, so have been really impressed.  He’s comfortable on the ball and I think he should have had a penalty towards the end of the game.

He wants to try to take people on, the sort of player the fans are going to like so we have to give him a little bit of time to adapt slightly. But the way he has trained, the way he has come in with his personality looks great so I am really pleased to have him.”

The best is yet to come from Pulisic, as it is from every player in the squad. We can’t read too much into pre-season, nor can we expect too much from a player like Pulisic too prematurely.
