Frank Lampard aims to add this Chelsea legend to a list of former players in his backroom staff

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is set to be named a Chelsea staff member after the Mirror reported that Frank Lampard wants to add the legendary left full-back to his backroom staff.

Having already arrived at Stamford Bridge with Jody Morris, who is also a former player of the club, Lampard now seeks to beef up the pedigree of coaching staff with another man who has vast experience both at the club and in the Premier League.

The 41-year old signed Ashley Cole as a player in his maiden season as a manager at Derby County and wants a reunion with the player he won several trophies with at Chelsea in their playing days. Cole has retired from professional football after last season and is now available to be part of Lampard’s backroom staff.

The report says Lampard sees Cole as the perfect man to usher the new generation into the first team with Chelsea banned from signing new players in the next two transfer windows.
