“It feels amazing to be here, I grew up watching Frank Lampard” – Christian Pulisic hails new manager impact

It feels like a long time ago that Chelsea signed USA international Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth about £58 million.

But the 20-year old attacker who was linked with Arsenal and Liverpool at the time, is finally set to make his first appearance for Chelsea in a friendly against Kawasaki Frontale this Friday.

Pulisic has joined up with his new team mates after returning early from his holidays, and will be hoping to play some part in his teams pre-season friendlies in Japan over the next week.

He will be playing under new Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard, someone who the American admits to watching play as a kid.

“‘When I think of this club, there’s a lot of great players that come to mind. I grew up watching Frank Lampard and all of those guys at the top of their game in the Premier League and in the Champions League.”

During a time where Chelsea are transfer banned, and have lost their best player in Eden Hazard, Pulisic will be hoping to bring some buzz back to Stamford Bridge, a place he is very excited to now call home.

“To me, Chelsea were always one of the biggest teams and now to be playing here, it’s really come full circle from that moment. It feels amazing.”

Pulisic will be in no means attempting to replace Hazard at Chelsea, but he does feel confident in some of the his own abilities that he will be bringing to the table.

“I think I have a lot of speed and creativity that I can bring to the game; quickness and different attacking abilities that can really help the team.

“I think I have some tools that can really do well in this league. I just can’t wait.”
