Eight Chelsea players depart Frank Lampard’s pre-season training camp

Eight Chelsea players have left Frank Lampard’s training camp and returned to London, according to ever-reliable Twitter source @CarefreeYouth.

Lampard ensured that he had an opportunity to assess everyone on Chelsea’s books who was available to report for pre-season training and travel to Dublin for our clash with Bohemians.

However, the gaffer could not have kept all of them around for the season ahead, and has wasted no time cutting out those who he doesn’t feel will have a role to play in the season ahead.

As @CarefreeYouth has revealed on Twitter, eight have returned to London, with all of them likely to either be shipped out on loan or sold on a permanent basis.

Conor Gallagher was voted Chelsea’s academy player of the year and impressed during his run-out against Bohemians. However, he needs a Reece James-esque breakout season before he will be involved.

The same goes for several of the other players who have been dismissed, notably Trevoh Chalobah and Dujon Sterling, who are both highly-regarded at Cobham.

The likes of Izzy Brown, Lewis Baker, and certainly Lucas Piazon, are fast running out of chances. There is every possibility that we’ll never see them in a Chelsea shirt again.
