“Of course I want him to stay” admits Lampard

Frank Lampard has addressed the media in Japan this morning as Chelsea continue with their pre-season preparations. With many players futures still uncertain in the squad, Lampard was questioned about one of the academies hottest prospects amidst reports of another potential Bayern Munich bid.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is currently nursing an injury, but the talk regarding his future has not died down. Chelsea remain hopeful of convincing the 18-year old to sign a new 5-year deal at the club, despite Bayern’s interest.

And Frank Lampard is also very keen on securing down the winger to a new deal.

He said “Of course we want him to sign contract extension and stay here as long as possible. I have said it before, he’s a player that came from the academy, a player that will be a big part of the club and England.

“We as a club want him to stay here that’s for sure.”

Chelsea secured the future of another youngster yesterday, confirming the new 5-year contract for midfielder Mason Mount. This of course off the back of Ruben Loftus-Cheek signing his 5-year deal.

The club are clearly building for the future and placing trust in some of their younger players that have grown up in their academy. They remain hopeful that Hudson-Odoi will be the next one to put pen to paper.
