CONFIRMED: Mason Mount signs new 5 year contract with Chelsea

Mason Mount has signed a new five year contract with Chelsea the club announced on their official website today, just as they prepare to head out to Japan on the preseason tour.

It has  been clear since Frank Lampard was appointed that Mason had a brighter future than ever at the club. Under Maurizio Sarri he likely would have expected another season on loan, but with his Derby coach Lampard on board, his move to the first team has been accelerated, and likely these contract talks too.

He scored in our last friendly, and at this rate will be heavily involved in the first team this season. No wonder we were keen to tie him down following another promising season on loan.

Hopefully this latest move, combined with signing up Ruben Loftus-Cheek a few weeks ago, will convince Callum Hudson-Odoi that staying with his mates is the right move after all, so that he can join them in a Bright Blue future.
