“I’m buzzing” – Chelsea academy POTY reveals delight at life under Frank Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has spoken of his delight to be playing under the stewardship of ‘idol’ Frank Lampard, report the club’s official website.

Gallagher, who is the reigning Chelsea academy player of the year, was given the opportunity to show Lampard what he was capable of against Bohemians in our first pre-season friendly yesterday.

He looked really impressive and accomplished, at least he did during the the small amount of the game we were able to watch in the intervals of Chelsea’s live stream self-destructing.

It’s great to see players like Conor who have proven their quality in the academy be given a chance to play with the first-team, if only in pre-season. This will become a common theme under Lampard.

It’s likely for that reason that Gallagher is so delighted to be playing under the club legend, as well as the fact that he will have grown up wearing his shirt. He’s quoted by the club’s official website saying:

“It’s great working under the gaffer and I have to say that Frank was my idol growing up, so it’s fantastic to have him here as manager.”

“I’m buzzing with how things are going and I can’t believe it really. Winning Academy Player of the Year was fantastic and then to travel with the squad to Baku was great.”

“Being part of the squad out here is great and I’m really enjoying myself. I just want to keep working hard now.”

There’s a real buzz around the younger players since Lampard was appointed head coach. We dearly hope that they get the opportunities that have been promised to them under his management.
