Chelsea reject £20M offer from Premier League counterparts for defender

Crystal Palace have placed a £20M bid for Chelsea right-back Reece James, which has been rejected by the Blues, according to information provided by the Daily Star.

James was elected Chelsea’s academy player of the year at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, subsequently earning himself a loan move to Championship side Wigan Athletic.

The youngster was one of the best players in England’s second tier last term, showing just how talented he is both at right-back and when fielded in the middle of the park.

As per the Daily Star, he has attracted the interest of Premier League counterparts Crystal Palace, who have tabled a £20M bid in their efforts to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, the Daily Star report that Chelsea have snubbed the offer, which is the correct thing to do considering that James could be worth triple that in a few years.

It would be wrong to part with one of the best young talents that we have on our books at a time that he may well be given an opportunity to impress.
