Chelsea make decision on forgotten forward to force Atletico Madrid to pay big

Chelsea are seeking to make money off Alvaro Morata’s sale this summer without waiting for his current loan spell to end at the La Liga club next year.

The Blues are reportedly threatening to cancel Morata’s loan deal this summer – a decision Diego Simeone’s side can do nothing about – unless Los Rojiblancos make payment of €55 million for him in the running transfer window. Chelsea have been banned from signing new players this summer, a situation that will deprive them off getting in fresh players to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the league title.

So bringing back some of their rather better players in the famed ‘loan army’ makes sense. Morata is one of those and Diario AS in Spain say Chelsea have given Atletico an ultimatum to pay up for Morata’s permanent contract or risk losing him.

Talk Sport quoted Morata as saying he wants to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium after he received harsh treatment from some Chelsea fans.
