Chelsea could lose less than expected on £40m transfer if PSG interest is true

Sources in France are linking Tiemoue Bakayoko with a move away from Chelsea.

The French midfielder’s future is incredibly uncertain right now, and RMC Sport have this evening been saying that he’s in talks with clubs including PSG and – less believably – Manchester United.

Whatever the validity of the interest of these specific clubs, the what is certain is that there will be interest in taking him off our hands. If Frank Lampard decides he doesn’t need the former Monaco man around, his performances for Milan last year were good enough to mean there will be plenty of interest in a loan or outright purchase.

We may lose money on the £40 odd million we spent on him, but it won’t be a huge amount given the rampant inflation since then.

He’s still young, has shown good games, and could even play a role in our first team if Lampard wants him. Our central midfield is crowded right now, and if Mason Mount has anything to say about it it will be goodbye Baka.
