Chelsea injury blow: Key midfielder forced to leave Blues’ pre-season tour of Japan

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has left the Blues’ pre-season tour of Japan to have treatment on a knee problem back in London, report the club’s official website.

Kante suffered a knee injury against Watford towards the tail end of our Premier League campaign, but managed to play through the pain for 90 minutes in the Europa League final against Arsenal.

The Frenchman was not involved for France during the international break and missed the start of our pre-season campaign. While he looked as though he was closing in on full fitness, his time in Japan has been cut short.

The Chelsea website reports that Kante has returned to London for treatment on what they report is an issue relating to the initial knee injury he sustained. Exactly what that means remains ambiguous.

We are beginning to worry that Kante will not be fit to feature at the start of the new season, which will be a huge blow to us, especially seeing that our first fixture is against Manchester United away from home.
