Chelsea have let five players go as the summer of changes continues at the club.
A post on the Blues’ official website confirmed the moves, with all of them thanked for “all or some of their career” being at the club. Gary Cahill, Gonzalo Higuain, Kyle Scott, Eduardo (the goalkeeper) and Rob Green have all seen their contracts at the club expire.
None of them had much of a role to play over the last 12 months, and in fact in the case of Higuain it’s an absolute blessing that we can get rid of him now and are not committed to buy him. Of course Rob Green has made himself a cult hero and Gary Cahill is an authentic club legend who has won it all.
We are banned from making transfers, so this wave of moves is another one which will see the team’s average age get younger, and hopefully the standard of the squad improve.
