Chelsea close to reaching contract agreement with 20-year-old amid Championship interest

Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with youngster Trevoh Chalobah to extend his contract ahead of a potential loan move, according to Football Insider.

Chalobah was involved in the opening stages of Chelsea’s pre-season under Frank Lampard, with the Blues heading off to Ireland for two games. However, he was cut from the squad ahead of our tour of Japan.

That was likely with a view to him going out on loan once again, with one season at Ipswich Town not enough to convince Lampard he is worthy of a position in Chelsea’s first-team squad.

Football Insider believe that both West Brom and Fulham are interested in signing him, but first and foremost, Chalobah is close to signing along the dotted line and extending his contract with Chelsea.

It has become a common occurrence in recent seasons, Chelsea extending deals before shipping players out on loan. It secures their future, and it’s great news that Chalobah is willing to commit to us.
