Callum Hudson-Odoi still on for Golden Boy award as Italian paper cut longlist

The Golden Boy longlist has been cut to 80 names from… 100, according to the Sun.

So we might have to write this story several more times in the next few weeks, as we expect the winger to make the top 10 at least.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport will continue cutting their list down until we know who the winner of the 2019 award is.

Joao Felix, who tore up the Primeira Liga in Portugal before joining Atletico Madrid for a record fee this summer is the favourite to win, but Callum can’t be far off. The injury that prevented him potentially starting for us in the Europa League final and the finale of our Premier League run will have been a real blow to his chances.

Either way, the talent he’s shown for club and country in the last 12 months will surely stand him in good stead when it comes to reaching the final stages of this prestigious prize.
