What this Arsenal and Man United target said about his Chelsea future

As Tiemoue Bakayoko continues to be linked with the Chelsea exit door, what the Frenchman said before returning to the Blues are becoming all the more relevant.

French publication RMC Sport report that there are three clubs showing interest in Bakayoko – Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

While it appears unlikely that Chelsea would be willing to let him leave to a fellow Premier League club, if the price is right, Marina Granovskaia could be tempted.

Ultimately, it may come down to Bakayoko’s will. Does he want to stay and fight for minutes under Frank Lampard, or depart and seek greener pastures elsewhere?

Well, these comments to L’Equipe last month give us an insight into the mind of the 24-year-old. His words are translated into English by the Express:

“My future? Yes, I will go back to Chelsea. I still have a three-year contract. I have no choice.”

“I don’t know what will happen after that but I have to go back to Chelsea. It is the only thing I know.”

“I had difficult moments [at Milan], especially at the start. I’m sad to go away but this is life.”

Perhaps his tone will change after training with Lampard, but it certainly didn’t sound as though he was particularly happy to be returning to Cobham.

What do you think, Blues?
