Top international manager dismisses Chelsea rumours

Gareth Southgate has responded to rumours linking him with Chelsea by insisting that he’s committed to England.

The Three Lions were victorious on penalties against Switzerland in the third place playoff in the Nations League, and responding to whispers in the press about links to the job at Stamford Bridge, Southgate took the chance after the game to shut down all those whispers.

The Guardian carried quotes from the former Middlesbrough manager, who rubbished claims that he was going to leave the national team where he’s had so much success to lead Chelsea.

He also diminished rumours that his assistant Steve Holland might also leave – although of course he was not able to dismiss them with such certainty. He did, however, describe Holland as the best number two in the game.

Southgate has done a fantastic job with the England national team, but that’s a very different role to being Chelsea boss, and we’re not too sad to miss out on his potential talents.
