Sarri explains why “7 or 8” players didn’t help him at Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri was unveiled at Juventus today, and in his introductory press conference he was asked several questions about his time and Chelsea and how it had gone.

While he insisted it was a “positive experience” quotes taken up by Oliver Harbord of had this quote from him that explained why things hadn’t gone too well:

According to the former Napoli boss, not enough of his players bought into his system at Chelsea, with “7 or 8” of his team were playing as individuals, explaining why things didn’t go as well as they had at Napoli.

It’s a convincing excuse from someone who clearly lacked the backing of the team at times – but it could all have been so different it perhaps he’d need a little more diplomatic about the whole thing.

We will see how things go for him in Turin.
