New reports reveal Lampard’s £12m salary bump

Frank Lampard is set to be handed a contract at Chelsea worth £12m, according to the Daily Mirror.

It was confirmed by Derby today that the Blues had been allowed to speak with their coach as a move grew closer, and now the tabloids are claiming to know that Lampard will be given a 3 year, £12m deal that will be proof of the club’s belief in their former player.

Given it’s apparently costing us just £4 to get him from Derby, that would suggest a decent pay rise for the record breaking midfielder.

The first year, under a transfer ban with a player out, is expected to be largely a free hit, with loan players and youngsters ready to be blooded. The real test will come next season, and so it’s not a hugely risky deal.

After a long career in the top flight, money won’t be on Frank’s mind. All he will care about is getting time and backing from the board to be a great success at the club.
