Maurizio Sarri was not special at Chelsea according to stats revealed by a BBC report

Chelsea’s immediate former manager Maurizio Sarri was nothing special in his time at the club if compared to his predecessors.

The Italian manager won the Europa League title in his maiden and only campaign in charge of the Blues. One would have thought he would rank high in the ranks of the former Chelsea managers, but a BBC report comparing all the coaches hired under Roman Abramovich reveals nothing particularly unique about Sarri.

In the number of days spent at the club, Sarri ranked equal with Claudio Ranieri as the two men who last one full season. He spent more days, 337, than Avram Grant, Roberto Di Matteo, Andre Villas-Boas, Luis Felipe Scolari and two-time interim coach Guus Hiddink.

The 60-year old was the third manager in the ranking that determined the number of days it took to win a trophy at Chelsea. He finished third in the Premier League standings and even that, tied with Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and Avram Guus Hiddink who also finished on the same spot in their first seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri has left a mark at Chelsea by winning the Europa League in his maiden season, but he has certainly not wowed the fans at the Bridge.
