Why Erik Ten Hag does not want Chelsea job

Yesterday Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com published a piece about Frank Lampard, whom he confirmed was in contact with Chelsea about becoming the new manager.

But the report also contained some interesting snippets about the reasons why Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag is NOT interested in the role.

Kinsella claims that it’s the transfer ban that is putting the Dutchman off making the move to come and replace Maurizio Sarri.

That’s an interesting angle. One might understand an established top manager like Max Allegri not wanting to come unless he can spend money, but Ten Hag has only recently shot to fame.

Not only that, but it’s not like he’s splashing the cash at Ajax. They have build using mainly youth players, and for 12 months that’s all he would have to do here too. The lack of incoming transfers would probably lower expectations for him too.

It looks like the job is Lampard’s now. We’ll see how he copes with this ban, but we think he will be just fine.
