Claude Makelele will return to Chelsea to work with Frank Lampard, according to a report in the Sun today.
The former Chelsea midfielder had been managing in Belgium, after having also coached and had upstairs roles at clubs including PSG and Swansea. But now he returns to the place he had success as a key part of Jose Mourinho’s super-team.
The word is that he will play a role with the players on loan. We already have Eddie Newton monitoring them, but the more resources the club diverts to this the better. Our loan players are a key part of the club now, and someone who can take them under his wing with the exceptional experience in the game Claude has can only be a good thing.
Of course this might all blow up in our faces, but for now we’re loving the chance to dream of a club succeeding with these legends in charge.
