Chelsea’s second choice manages in China, according to tabloid

Now that Frank Lampard is certain to be the Chelsea boss, plenty of papers are coming out and claiming to know things about the whole process. It’s a race to mine any little bit of information and spin it as a big deal.

The Sun‘s contribution to the rat race is claiming that the final choice was between Lampard and Vitor Pereira.

The Shanghai SIPG manager, was, they say, actually contacted by the club as a potential Sarri replacement, before they plumped for Lampard due to his connection with the club.

That’s an interesting Twist, given he was hardly mentioned compared to some other candidates for the job. Clearly the Sun, along with all those other papers, largely missed that angle when they were talking nonsense about Rafa Benitez.

Either way, it’s a moot point now as Frank is coming back to coach our first team. We’re not too worried about who didn’t get the job.
