Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard has an interesting piece this morning, indicating that Christian Pulisic is going to cut his holiday short in order to impress Frank Lampard.
The American attacker is just about to sign for us, but is still away with his country at the Gold Cup. If his country make the final he will have less than a week to relax before Chelsea are off on their trip to Japan, but according to Johnson, he’s not bothered.
Showing the kind of fighting spirit you want to see in your big money signings, he will apparently jet off with the team after just a few days off. We hope he’s not risking burnout, but he didn’t actually play too much in the middle of the season, so he should be ok.
In fact, this might mean he arrives on Premier League pitches in full flow, something we’d love to see. We will be at our weakest in those early stages with injuries piling up, so it would be great to have a player already in form ready to help guide us through those early weeks of the season.
