Chelsea striker flies to Germany to complete permanent Bundesliga switch

Chelsea striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale has flown to Germany and is set to complete a permanent transfer to Hoffenheim, according to Sky Sports.

Taylor-Crossdale, a past winner of the Under-18 Premier League golden boot, appears to have opted against extending his contract with Chelsea.

It has become a theme in recent seasons for young English players to depart their native land in search of greener pastures in the Bundesliga.

Jadon Sancho has been the most successful in Germany, with Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson also reaping the rewards from taking the plunge.

As per Sky Sports, Taylor-Crossdale is hoping to follow in their footsteps, with Hoffenheim, who housed Nelson last term, the destination.

As with all Chelsea academy players who make the decision to depart, we hope to see Taylor-Crossdale back in blue at some point in the future.

It’s a mature and brave decision, but one that will no doubt do wonders for him as he seeks to build a successful career as a professional footballer.
